The Oxford Calligrapher is a Small Business Sunday Winner!

I'm delighted to announce that The Oxford Calligrapher has won the coveted award of Small Business Sunday Winner. I was recently presented with my certificate by former Dragon, retail entrepreneur and #SBS founder, Theo Paphitis.

The Oxford Calligrapher is now one of 4500 small businesses that Theo has personally chosen to be part of his community since 2010. He chooses 6 winners every Monday who have pitched their business on a Sunday evening Bia Instagram or X (Formerly Twitter). I was lucky enough to become a winner on my first pitch, where for many it takes a number of attempts to be chosen! It's a real honour to be recognised for the passion and hard work I put into bringing calligraphy joy to as many people as I can.

Exploring the Art of Wedding Invitation Wording: Options to Suit Every Style

As you embark on planning your wedding, the wording on your wedding invitations is a crucial element that sets the tone and reflects the formality of your special day.

Whether you're hosting an intimate soirée or a grand affair, understanding the etiquette of invitation wording is essential. In this post, we will explore the art of wording wedding invitations based on different levels of formality, ensuring that your invitations exude elegance and sophistication, perfectly aligning with your luxurious celebration.

1. Formal Elegance:

For a black-tie affair or a traditional formal wedding, the wording on your invitations should reflect utmost elegance. Begin with the names of the hosts, typically the parents, followed by a request line that politely invites guests to the ceremony. Use formal language and honorifics when addressing recipients, and ensure to include all necessary details, such as the date, time, and venue, as well as reception information.

2. Semi-Formal Sophistication:

A semi-formal wedding strikes a balance between elegance and a more relaxed atmosphere. When wording your invitations, maintain a touch of formality while incorporating a more personal tone. Mention the hosts' names, followed by a warm invitation that reflects the couple's style. Provide all essential details, but feel free to use slightly less formal language, creating a sense of warmth and intimacy.

3. Modern Chic:

If your wedding exudes contemporary style and modernity, your invitation wording should reflect this aesthetic. Embrace clean lines and minimalist language. Focus on key details while maintaining an elegant and sophisticated tone. Personalize the invitations to reflect your unique style, infusing them with your personalities and the essence of your celebration.

4. Casual Glamour:

For a relaxed yet glamorous affair, such as a beach wedding or a rustic-chic gathering, the wording on your invitations can reflect a more casual and whimsical tone. Play with creative language, incorporate a touch of humor, and consider unconventional formats. This style allows you to infuse your invitations with personality and set the stage for a joyous and lighthearted celebration.

5. Destination Delight:

If you're planning a destination wedding, your invitation wording should capture the spirit of adventure and travel. Transport your guests to the exotic location with evocative language. Include all the essential information, such as travel details, accommodations, and itinerary, in an engaging and informative manner. Build excitement and anticipation as your guests embark on this memorable journey with you.

Wording your wedding invitations with elegance and finesse is a crucial aspect of planning your wedding stationery. Depending on the formality of your occasion, you can tailor the language to reflect the style and atmosphere you desire. Whether you opt for formal elegance, semi-formal sophistication, modern chic, casual glamour, or destination delight, the art of invitation wording sets the stage for a memorable and refined celebration. By following the appropriate etiquette guidelines, your invitations will gracefully convey the essence of your luxurious affair, leaving a lasting impression on your guests.
