Hi, I'm Jane...
Being a calligraphy and engraving artist gives me the opportunity to work and play at the same time. There is nothing more fulfilling than turning meaningful words into beautiful art for others to enjoy.
Learning calligraphy for me, is as much about mindfulness as it is learning a new skill. I love giving other people the same experience by teaching calligraphy in person and online.
Whether it's wedding stationery or a calligraphy commission, getting creative with words is a real pleasure. My work has been featured in a number of publications including Whimsical Wonderland Weddings and Love My Dress. Rob Brydon has also commissioned a hand-lettered poem! Freehand engraving has led me to work on live onsite events with some incredible brands, including Dior, John Lewis and Bicester Village.
How it Started
I started learning calligraphy as a way to calm my nervous system while really struggling to cope with the stresses in my teaching job. Before long I noticed the joy it brought to me, so I left my 14 year teaching career to pursue calligraphy as a full time business. in 2020, The Oxford Calligrapher was born.
Become a small business owner allowed me the space to heal while helping people to learn the meditative process of practising calligraphy.
I'm a great believer in pursuing your dreams, no matter how wild they are!
